Rio Verde waterfall and terabita

The waterfall Pailon del Diablo in Rio Verde

The new path down to the waterfall

The top of the waterfall passing the village of Rio Verde

Taking a tarabita over the Pastaza river

Nice view from the tarabita and quite a bit up from the ground

The engine running the tarabita back and forward, an old bus engine with gearbox and everything

Yacuma lodge

Our guide just had to make fun of me putting on these flowers

Defensive little spider

Laundry in the rural areas

Toasting Cacao beans

Cacao beans being prepared for some chocolate drink around the fire

When toasted we put the cacao beans through the grinder twice

We then got the 100% pure cacao paste that we mixed with some hot milk and voila, chocolate a la Amazonia was ready.

My neighbor living just next to my hut in a hole in the ground. I really hate spiders but they are fascinating to see anyway

Yacuma lodge

The group I was traveling with plus the guides to the right

THe kids at the local school are as most kids crazy for Guaba fruit and can climb high to get them

The jungle grapes are also a favorite in the Amazon region

And to climb 6 meters up to get some of these jungle grapes is nothing for a local boy

Some Amazon ceramics being made by a Cichua lady

While the women are making things....

The men dont mind to have a drink called Chicha made from fermented Yucca

Went to fish some Piranha but only the guide managed to get two

This boa we found in the bushes outside the lodges

Quito colonial part

La basilica church where we later climbed up to the top right tower for a coffee.

El Panecillo with the virgen looking down over the old town.

Some of the streets are very steep and it is not easy for everybody.

Plaza Grande with the liberty monument and the Presidential palace in the background

A typical "fruit lady" selling Bananas and Maduros

Another "fruit lady"

La Ronda street where the first residential houses were built by the Spanish when they re-founded Quito after the Inka's

Typical balcony on the old Spanish houses in Quito

La Ronda street

There is a lady feeding doves in every town...

Change of guards at the Presidential palace

The president of Ecuador in the middle overlooking the change of guards at the Presidential palace.

The virgin at El Panecillo

Back at the <>>>>>Basilica church we headed for the roof

Nice view over the old town over a cup of coffee

Between the inside and the outside roof of the church
